Fundraising and Development Director
Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Development Director to lead our fundraising initiatives and enhance our organizational growth. The Development and Fundraising Director leads all fundraising and development initiatives to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and growth. This senior leadership position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the organization's fundraising activities, including major gifts, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fundraising, grant writing, and data collection, as well as proficiency in donor databases. This role requires an outgoing strategic thinker who can effectively market our mission and engage with various stakeholders through social media management and community outreach.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to meet organizational funding needs
- Create and execute an annual fundraising plan with specific goals, timelines, and budgets
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to support the fundraising activities
- Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, participating in strategic planning and budgeting
Donor Relations & Major Gifts
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing donors
- Develop and implement donor recognition and stewardship programs
- Create compelling case statements and fundraising materials
- Use and Oversee donor database management and gift processing systems
Special Events
- Plan and execute fundraising events, including galas, auctions, and donor appreciation events
- Manage event committees and volunteers
- Oversee event budgets and ensure revenue goals are met
- Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and staff for successful event execution
Grant Management as needed
- Collaborate on the research, writing, and reporting for foundation and corporate grants
- Oversee grant calendar and ensure timely submission of proposals and reports
- Build and maintain relationships with foundation officers and corporate funders
- Assist in tracking grant commitments and compliance requirements
Team Management
- Supervise development staff and volunteers
- Establish performance metrics and evaluate team effectiveness
