"Bread, Freedom, Social Justice: Agrarian Roots of the Arab Uprisings"
Rami Zurayk will speak about the rural and food dimensions of the “Arab Spring”, a series of revolts, uprisings, and revolutions occurring in the Middle East and North Africa since 2010. As an agronomist, scholar, and activist, Dr. Zurayk will talk about the declining Arab agricultural sector, the problem of food insecurity, and the plight of the Arab small farmer, with a particular focus on Palestine.
