Mother Ann Lee (1736-1784), leader of the Shakers, emigrated from England to New York in 1774 with a small group of eight followers. She shattered 18th century gender conventions in her role as leader of the Shaker church and public preacher. Join us and Shaker Heritage Society’s education coordinator Samantha Hall-Saladino as we explore the life of this fascinating woman and the Shakers during America’s Revolutionary War.
