Immigrant Services Specialist - Bilingual
LifeWorks Community Action is currently seeking a candidate to provide bilingual services and support to immigrants and their families in Saratoga, Washington and Warren Counties as well as to seasonal workers at the Saratoga Race Course backstretch.
Job Duties:
- Primary intake, assessment and case management/mentoring for clients in crisis.
- Provide interpretation with respect to medical and educational services.
- Conduct program and educational outreach to the immigrant population.
- Assist in planning, scheduling and supporting community projects.
- Promote and assist with ESL classes
- Certify to be a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax preparer.
- Work collaboratively with Family Services, WIC, Head Start and other LifeWorks programs and staff to support initiatives and customers as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Associates Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) in social sciences including coursework related to cultural diversity, Latin American/Latino studies, education, social work or human services or; High School Diploma/GED and 2 years’ experience in related field.
- Passion for serving the community, alleviating poverty and building a community where everyone has the opportunity to achieve their goals.
- Knowledge of Human Services.
- Effective Crisis Management
- Positive attitude and good customer service skills.
- Organized and detail oriented. Willingness to learn.
- Must be bilingual Spanish/English.
- Must possess a clean driver’s license, reliable vehicle and be insurable to operate agency vehicles.
Compensation: 24.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm with flexible scheduling, occasional weekends required.
