Job Summary:

The Cleaner is responsible for making sure all assigned areas of DeCrescente Distributing Company are clean, neat, and tidy. This includes any indoor cleaning and organizing tasks assigned by the employer and may regularly include cleaning “projects” (e.g., cleaning and organizing a messy closet).   Responsibilities include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and waxing floors. Other duties will include heavy cleaning of windows and furniture.  In addition, the Cleaner performs other interior work assignments as directed by the Facilities & Fleet Manager.

Essential Functions:


  • Perform assigned housekeeping “project” work to include cleaning and organizing within the building.
  • Perform interior assignments including but not limited to:
    1. Vacuuming
    2. Dusting
    3. Mopping
    4. Cleaning of windows and furniture
  • Maintain company standards with regards to housekeeping of hallways, restrooms, lobbies, and work areas.
  • Ensure that all safety and company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Request repair services if a problem is detected during cleaning.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors using brooms, mops, and/or power scrubbing and waxing machines.
  • Ensure that company property and equipment are properly utilized and maintained.


  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure that that all housekeeping “projects” are done with minimal interruption to normal business and within a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with Facilities & Fleet Manager to ensure that all housekeeping needs are met.
  • Resolve all customer service issues in a timely manner.
  • Document all accidents, incidents, and injuries which occur during the course of business.


  • Order and maintain proper inventory levels for all supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain safe work routines while following all mandatory regulations.
  • Develop new and existing skills through company education programs and self-directed training.

Required Skills:

  • HS diploma or GED with at least 3 years of job-related experience, specifically in housekeeping services
  • Extensive knowledge of housekeeping and janitorial tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervisor.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in the committed timeframe.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and demonstrate flexibility.

Work Shift Requirements:

  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
  • Must speak to supervisor to notify him/her any time prior to the beginning of work shift when calling in sick.  Voice mail or e-mail messages are not acceptable replacements.
  • Required to wear company-issued apparel and safety personal protective equipment.
  • Safe use and maintenance of all company-issued equipment.

Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work safely and follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • For all on-the-job injuries or accidents, must notify Safety Officer, supervisor, and Human Resources immediately (no later than 1 hour.)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, reach, balance, and grasp.
